Like my title? If you cast, it’s something you’re going see a lot when the Plex app goes “dumb” usually when you wake up your iOS device to scrub to a later time or forward to the next track. In this “dumb” mode, the app cannot update the movie’s position and appears to forget or reestablish the selected Plex player while on your screen is the last position when your device (probably) fell asleep and the scrubber is unresponsive and then you get to the point where it simply cannot play and you get an error message. The fastest stop gap is to change the player, and switch back. It’s just a whole lot of noodling for a 5-star app. Sure the system is very convenient but it’s implementation is shoddy, at least on iOS. The Plex developers have done good to build a media jukebox but I’m sick of being annoyed with the same problem on multiple devices.

I like the app for the most part. The ui is a little convoluted but there’s nothing I can't find in a few seconds. BUT, that’s a big but, music on this app sounds like garbage. I can listen to it over the web app, and it sounds great. Play the same song in the app and it sounds like I popped in a cassette in a 1980s car with blown speakers. I can believe how abysmal it sounds. If they fixed the audio, 4 stars. If they tweaked the ui for the better and stopped changing it for the sake of change, 5 stars.
  • New layout has ruined the mobile app for me

What used to be only one click away is now four clicks. I cannot customize my home screen in anyway shape or form. The content that the Plex mobile app is shutting down my throat and not letting me change has forced me to use something else to stream my content to my phone. I know I’m not the only one.
  • Not user friendly!

I have two plex servers, one at home and one at summer home. I can’t tell which on is being picked. Because the internet is slower at our summer home it is constantly stopping and getting the circle of death! I have stopped using the IOS app because of this and now just us the web browser version. It has that nice left hand pane that allows me to switch back and forth real easy! Can I get my money back, obviously Plex doesn’t care because when they did this a year or so ago I posted on the forums how bad it was to navigate and no response!

This app would be awesome if it was bootleg movies on here where you see or hear the dang audience. The ads in the middle of the movies are annoying. Other than that is it is a good app just needs some tweaking!

I used to love Plex but with each update the apps get worse and worse and less reliable. A new problem every time. The iOS app has such a difficult time connecting to the server- even when I’m in front of my computer with the server open and running and strong WiFi connection and multiple app restarts. It’s a shame how something originally so great is now mostly just headaches.

Been a PLEX subscriber a few years now. Always wanted an efficient way to broadcast local media content and through trial and error settled with this program. Media response is quick and precise with buffering not a big problem. Glad to see extra features such as Web Cast, Pod Cast and such. Great addition to my tech arsenal.
